San Andreas, Calif. — An influential Calaveras County media leader has died at the age of 79.
The Calaveras Company reports in its Thursday newspaper that its publisher and owner, Ralph Alldredge, has died. He was battling cancer, according to the publication (you can click here to read the published article about his life and legacy).
Alldredge acquired the company in 1998 while working as a lawyer in the Bay Area and later moved full-time to Calaveras County in 2007.
As for the future of the paper, the article states that Enterprise staff “will carry on the legacy of honest journalism in the community they loved so much.” Alldredge is survived by his wife of 56 years, Claudia, and several other family members. A vigil will be held on a date to be announced.
The Calaveras company publishes a printed newspaper every week.
